Smoking and the use of tobacco products negatively affects almost every body system.  Some of the common problems caused by smoking are lung/mouth/throat cancer, emphysema, kidney damage and bronchitis. Did you also know that use of tobacco products can increase the risk of complications from surgery, such as pneumonia, blood clots or delayed wound healing? Smokers have 3 times the risk of wound infections after surgery. Smoking also increases the risk of stroke and brain aneurysm, and causes irreversible drying out of the discs in the spine.

The fact that second hand smoke is destructive is old news, but this new video from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention graphically depicts the cardiovascular effects of secondhand smoke exposure.
